After receipt of Welcome Home Letter (assignment notice), soldier/spouse
may proceed to the Transportation Office to arrange for delivery of
household goods.
Attend a mandatory fire briefing which is held every Tuesday at 0900,
located at Building 7924 Plant Road on North Fort Lewis.
The soldier/spouse needs to return to the Housing Office, Building 2150,
on designated move-in date, for a briefing to pick up keys and complete
lease paperwork.
If the home is not large enough to accommodate household goods, a request
for storage may be submitted within 30 days of signing for on-post housing.
For more information, please call MRC at (253) 966-4928.
When soldier/spouse is unable to accept on-post housing (TDY, leave,
hospitalization) he/she may be placed on administrative hold. Soldiers under a
lease obligation may request to be put on leasehold status, with presentation
of a valid lease. Soldier must notify Fort Lewis Communities when ready to
occupy on-post housing. A spouse with a Special Power of Attorney may sign for
on-post housing in the absence of the sponsor as long as the spouse provides
all required documentation and the sponsor is currently assigned to Fort Lewis.
Soldiers may voluntarily request removal from the waiting list at anytime.
Should they later decide to reapply for housing, their eligibility date will be
the date the new application is completed. Therefore, soldiers are encouraged
to remain on the waiting list until housing is offered.
Additional or specific questions may be answered by calling (253) 912-2150 or
